... a little play time is good for the soul. When a recent poke sack purchase included a tiny top hat, my muse came out to play. I made a little steampunk bird, a'la Magpie Ethel style.
I have two of her adorable "party birds" and this little fellow looks right at home with them.
Party on, my birdie friends!

No Time For Junk
Well, here I am with another week behind me and what a sad title that is! I had little to NO time for junking last weekend and seriously didn't even realize I had lost a whole week since my last post. I did make my Sunday pilgrimage to the VOA and came out with this little pile. A darning egg to add to my collection, two cool slide-along magnifying glasses and some metal odds and ends. I have no clue what I will ever do with the Cowboy Donald Duck but he was in the poke sack.
I love this perfectly patinaed buffalo emblem!
The camera didn't want to co-operate but this is how it looks through one of the magnifying glasses. I bought those thinking they would be cool for steampunkery but they are so handy I might just keep them!
This is what I have been playing with in my precious spare time - another shadow box.
Remember those tiny golden shoes?
My younger son is a geologist. He works for a company that does a lot of government environmental work. He is trained (and trains others) to run in front of the first responders to determine if it safe to go in. His company was decommissioning these 1980s haz-mat masks so he texted me to see if I wanted them. HECK YES!
I am heading out very early tomorrow morning on a business trip so I will check in as time allows. Dang it Z, I will be in Vegas and would totally have meeting up with you in person at the top of my list if I thought I could get a moment of un-choreographed time!

Monday? Really??
Monday? Really? I must be caught in some time-warp thing. I don't even know where the weekend went. Maybe it was all the fat I ate during the Super Bowl party. Slowed my brain to a crawl.
So what is this thing anyway? It is part of the recipe for one of those Strange Notions thats starts whirling around in my head when I should be doing something constructive.
Believe it or not, I bought this ugliest lamp in America (or maybe the world) to get that Bakelite socket off the top. All the way to the checkstand, I told anyone who would listen (and some that didn't care) that I was just buying it for the socket. They looked at me funny.
Here's another little hint. I had to do the same thing when I bought this a couple weeks ago. It was covered with the most gawd-awful red and white lace boudoir hooker shade that it was embarassing to buy it. Seeing things for what they CAN be is one of my talents. Maybe. Time will tell.
I mentioned the trip to Rejuvination Hardware for the special must-have light bulb to make my dreams come true.
I thought I couldn't buy a new harp that would fit the vision so I bought one off eBay (which hasn't arrived yet) and then what to my wondering eyes did appear at the VOA?? I love choices.
I might use these...
Or maybe some of these. That's all for today. I'm back down the rabbit hole.
