More Recent Junk

I did score a few more treasures during my 3-day weekend so time to share before it is weekend again.  All of this is from a Monday trip to the VOA.  I have always wanted a birdcage but it will NOT be holding real birdies since I have plenty of the other kind.  I am searching a spot in the art room to enjoy it. The ashtray will be added to my Forest Green collection.  The jewelry box has a music box that still works and plays "Always".  The globe light will get a make-over for the garden.
I was delighted to find these two photo albums and they will be headed to Etsy.
They are made in Chechoslovakia and the images are of Prague.  I don't know if they are vintage or not but they have that look.
The Peonies are in full bloom now and it has been dry so the rain hasn't knocked them over.  I only cut the ones that tip over from the weight and rest their heads on the lawn.  I enjoy them outdoors, on the patio, due to the bugs that so dearly love them.  Why would they not!

A Little Pink for the First Day of Summer

Today is the first day of Summer and it is lovely and warm outside.  I can actually go out on my patio without a coat.  Not so much last Saturday.  We had a soaking rain that lasted all day long.
Needless to say, the just-opened Peony blossoms filled with water and went head first, straight to the ground.  That is a pretty common scenario here in Portland so I rushed right out to salvage what I could for a bouquet.  At least I don't have to feel guilty about cutting them since I'm really "saving" them!  I don't bring Peonies indoors because they always have ants in them so we just enjoy them on the patio.  They are just as beautiful no matter where we enjoy them!
I also snapped a photo of one of our first roses while I was out.  Blogger decided to turn it sideways but it's just as pretty either way.  The Portland Rose Festival ended about a week and a half ago and there were few roses in bloom for it this year because everything is so far behind this year.  I'll take them when I can get them!

Rain be GONE

Two months of record breaking rain up here in Portland. We had a brief respite last weekend that coaxed some of the soggy flora into bloom so I dashed out Tuesday night and snapped a few pictures before the next round of rain moved in.
One perfect oriental poppy. So beautiful it doesn't look real! Tall, leggy peonies reaching for the sun. So sad to see the rain make them hang their heads - kind of like most of Portland after this relentless string of storms.
They are predicting we will achieve our first 80 degree day this weekend so we're all hoping the tide (!) is turning at last. I, for one, will be spending my day outdoors.
