Snow Day!

 First of all, thank you to all of you who sent kind wishes this week.  My eye is healing nicely and another couple of weeks I can get my new prescription and finally see clearly again.
We have snow here in Portland.  We don't get snow very often, or even every winter, so the city comes to a standstill when it happens.  We have no equipment for clearing the roads and we don't even own snow shovels here so all we can do it sit and wait for it to melt.  Temps have been in the low 20s and very windy so it feels even colder.  Brr....The local news programs sure do love it!

 Snow Day implies staying home and playing but no such luck for me.  I have a lot on my plate right now so I worked remotely and that always feels like more work than working in the office - lol!  It all works out in the end, though.  Today felt like I worked on a Saturday so when Sunday gets here it will feel like a bonus day off.  Seriously.  That's is how easy I am to fool.

And this is the ugly side of the winter wonderland.  The direction of the wind has filled the covered patio with snow.  The husband lifted the lid on the barbecue and snow has even sifted inside.  Luckily, snow never lasts long around here.  We have one more day to go then Sunday will be rain and in the 40s again.
It isn't looking good for junking tomorrow...!

Sugar Frosted

 I am clearly behind on posting but wanted to show you the brief  "sugar frosting" we had on Tuesday morning.  It only lasted a very short while but so cozy and wintry to watch it fall!  These pictures are what I could take from the patio, still in my robe and slippers.

You can still see the Hydrangeas' Autumn colors peeking through the snow.  I would enjoy a little more of this if only it knew to stay in the gardens and off the streets!

Magical "Smart" Snow

We are having a "snow event" here in Portland, or so they say. Here in Portland an impending snow event invokes full-on panic and chaos. The schools close, everyone cleans out the grocery stores, gases up the car and hunkers down.
Mostly it turned out to be special, magical, smart snow. I say magical because of how it looked when I got up this morning. There was no wind so it settled gently and covered everything with fluffy white frosting. I love the way snow soaks up all the sound and makes the world so cozy and quiet! I say smart because, for the most part it knew to stay on the un-paved areas.
Last night I mentioned the forecasted chaos to Annette over at So Many Memories and she wished me a snow day so I could stay home from work and build a snowman.
Staying home wasn't in the cards but I found this little guy out in the parking lot at work mid-morning. A co-worker did what they could with what there was and those are words I live by so had to share him. He even has tiny little pebble eyes. If only there had been a teeny little carrot laying around!
