I STILL haven't gotten any decorating done but I HAVE been doing a little Christmas crafting. A bling tree doesn't quite qualify as a "bucket list" accomplishment but is HAS been on my to-do list for a long time. I pulled out all my bling stash and just went for it
I used a Styrofoam tree I picked up at The Bins. I clipped off whatever was on the back of the pretties and put the hot glue on them, not the Styrofoam and just started plunking. I was kind of amazed how many pieces it took to fill the cone. Time to accumulate more because I really depleted the stash - oh darn! 8+)
I filled in the spaces around them with straight pins from my accumulation and then mounted the whole thing on a thrifted metal candle holder turned upside down. I intended to use vintage pink tinsel garland around the bottom but couldn't get it to look the way it wanted so finally settled on pink gimp. Now I just need to get some decorating done. The rest of you are putting me to shame!

Oh my!!! These trees are gorgeous!!! I love everything about them friend! Have a great end to your week! Nicole xo
It turned out great.
I need to deplete some of my stash of things. I am running out of space.
Hope you get to your decorating soon.
It turned out perfectly blingy! I've always wanted to do a bling tree or wreath but I don't have near enough bling. Guess I should remedy that, ha!
It's just beautiful! You'll enjoy it for years and years, I'm sure!
Erica :)
I hope something from my box made it on there. I would be so proud..... lol
You have a fab blingy Christmas tree that I bet you had a blast making...who needs more decorations than that?
How cool is that!
That is a really pretty little bejeweled dazzler! Love your tree! xo Diana
It's gorgeous! I think this is a bucket list accomplishment. It's amazing how much bling you need to fill up one of these cones. You nailed it!
WOW this is the most gorgeous tree ever. You did an incredible job. Love it
XO
good for you just going for it and getting it done, I know it takes a lot of bling to cover one of make one of those trees
love it
Oh I love your tree!! It's beautiful!! I've been wanting to do this too, but don't want to use up a large part of my pretty stash. Lol. Yours turned out great!! Happy decorating!! xo Holly
Oh Kathy...It is gorgeous! It is on my list too, but I hate to use up so much bling all in one place.....Maybe I will get a little cone? ....OK...Get going on your decorating now lol!

I bought 2 small cones for this purpose. I have a few broaches, but will have to collect more and use the earrings and other baubles I find. People look at you strange when you buy the ONE bling earring out of a junk box. OOOOh, I have a jacket that I bought to resell because it had pretty buttons, guess it won't be for sale any more. LOL. Always love to have a REASON to shop.
Kathy that is BEAUTIFUL! I have wanted to make one of these for a long time but I need to save some more bling because I know it always takes more than you think it will. Truly beautiful!

No, I haven't done any Christmas decoration. Yes, I've gotten out the glue gun and burned my fingers while gluing small balls to wire brush trees and velveteen to the base of other wire brush trees, and do I need to keep listing all the ways I burned my fingers with the hot glue? Nope, I didn't think so. But I will make a visit to our local bins store (it's Weigh N Pay here in Flagstaff), and see if I can find any styro trees to decorate. It's been a VERY long time since I made a bling tree and you have inspired me. Thank you.
Very cool Kathy! Good thing you have such an amazing stash to create something so beautiful.
What a fun project!! It looks so sparkly! Great job. We just got our tree today and I have not done one bit of decorating so don't feel bad...I don't.
Loving your tree! I burnt my finger yesterday with my glue gun getting my dd's ugly Christmas sweater ready for today. I've been sick so haven't been able to shop but did find an acceptable 'half-way ugly' sweater that I knew I could make much uglier...LOL!
We had fun hot gluing the tacky Christmas bows and other various trims.....she was thrilled with it which is what it's all about!
She's at her dance tonight sporting her "ugly Christmas sweater" quite proudly.
That is gorgeous! I would love to make one but it would have to be smaller...I don't have that many pretty things. I think I'll pin this! WOW! Hugs!
That looks like a VERY satisfying project and it turned out great!
Wow, it is beautiful Kathy!! Such a pretty tree full of sparkly pretties!! xo Heather
This is wonderful and such a great idea - I want to make one now! you need to make a button tree next!!!
