I found this neat old cardboard manger at the VOA. The figures inside are chalkware. It needs a little TLC but has great "bones" so I am sure someone will enjoy it. I usually avoid buying much Christmas for my Etsy because my space to store the things that don't sell is so limited but I couldn't pass on this one! The two Forest Green teacups are also from the VOA.
The hand painted tole tray and rose picture are from The Bins. The back of the painting says Joan Case painted it in 1954 and she lived in Newport Oregon. No fine art here but I love the subject.
This might have been my best Bins score. It has the original Madame Alexander tag. I managed to wash it without any damage and it looks much better now. I don't know enough about dolls to know which one it fit but will list it with measurements.
A great little toffee tin that I did NOT put in the dishwasher - LOL! That sailor looks pretty pleased with himself.
A stack of patterns that I need like a hole in my head. I bought the one on the right because I had the exact same pattern in high school and remember the dirdle skirt my mother made for me. Patterns for men and boys don't sell well on my Etsy, no matter how old they are, but I can't resist some of the old graphics on them, especially not at Bins prices. Also a pretty piece of old filet crochet lace and peeking out behind that is a Daisy Kingdom nursery pillow kit.
Vintage evening dresses always seem to be popular.
A pretty floral plate. I have the exact same one hanging on the wall in my bedroom - LOL! How things like this end up at the Bins really is testament to one [wo]man's junk being another [wo]man's treasure.
This bedspread is something I have never seen before. It looks to be floral terry washcloths that were crocheted together. It is heavy and really quite pretty. It has some stains like it was accidentally washed with something red and one washcloth has come loose on one edge. First I will try to remove the stains and then I will see if I can repair it. I have a front-loader washing machine which really doesn't lend itself to soaking things and I don't have a laundry sink so I have to figure out where I can soak it. If I can't mash it in to the kitchen sink I may have to resort to the bathtub. I really hope I can rescue it because it is very pretty and very unusual.
It is football day in American. Go Seahawks!!

Oh my good gosh! I'll be stalking your etsy for that darling nativity set.......too cute!
Love your finds. I hit an estate sale yesterday and found a few goodies myself...love that!
That toffee tin was my favorite of the bunch.
You did well on your quest. LOVE that candy tin. I was at Nina and Joes Saturday! I half expected you to walk in the door. I found some treasures in that wonderful place. Then I went to the estate sale off Division put on by All My Favorite Things. Lots of crafty things and all under $50 is half off today.
Great things there! Love that MA dress!!!
i really need to take a long-overdue trip to the east side. You find the best stuff on that side of the Willamette :-)
The Madame Alexander dress is the best!
Next time you see Nina, tell her you found a pattern with Laurie's original Lamb nursery group...That is an OLDIE!!
The little doll dress is very sweet. Lots of fun...and a junk fix! We all need one from time to time! Hugs!
These are lovely. I just don't take the time to photograph my treasures anymore. The big Goodwill bin store in Phoenix has a ton of stuff but absolutely NO vintage stuff that lasts long enough for me to embark on reaching for it. It's dog eat dog, or shopper grab stuff market down there. I haven't been in quite a long time. The Goodwill bin store here in Flagstaff doesn't always have much stuff, however, I recently found a Samsonite train case for $4 that I'll use as a prop in photos and/or use for my own travel. I used to shop there a lot but not so much anymore.
BTW, I have a Madame Alexannder bride doll but there is no date on her. I'll try to take her picture plus a couple of my other older dolls thaat are not my boudoir dolls. They have their own personality.
Also, what does VOA stand for? You've mentioned it more than once and I keep forgetting to ask.
Take care, Marrianna
I do hope you're able to salvage that bedspread, very unusual for sure. Love those patterns and remember when those skirts were so popular, OMG!
That bedspread sure is interesting. What a fantastic haul this time!
Hi Kathy, you sure found some great finds. Love those green teacups and the nativity is precious.
Hope you can work with the bedspread and give it new life.
Have a great week.
Hugs
Oh, that Simplicity pattern!! I had a skirt made from that pattern when I was in 8th grade! It was made in a gorgeous black cotton chintz that had brightly colored big cabbage roses. I loved that skirt and I wore it with a black cotton peasant blouse with a black lace collar that I bought on Olvera Street in LA. Memories!
Thanks for the memories.
Our nativity scene when I was growing up was just like the one you found.
Wow awesome finds Kathy - especially that beautiful doll dress! You really are lucky to have all these resources close by. I have thrifted in a very long time!
