Some Exciting News!

This little pile of treasures is brought to you by the VOA and Monticello.  The blue birdie, dresser box and the cabinet card are from Monticello Antique Marketplace.  I was so glad I decided to stop in because...
wait for it...
The manager saw me shopping and told me she may have a small wall space for me in April or May!!!  WooHoo!!  I was losing hope and backing off on buying the things that I consider too big or too heavy to offer on Etsy.  It is really hard to leave things behind but there is only so much I can cart up to my attic before my house sinks.  It is a very small space and still can't hold anything very big but it is a foot in the door.  I am excited and NERVOUS, too.  I'm on the hunt now for a furniture piece I can use to display things.
The rest of the treasures are from the old, reliable, VOA.  This adorable donkey planter is marked Japan on the bottom.
The mid-century coffee mugs and bowl are Inarco and still have their original foil labels on the bottom.  Sadly, I could not get the Forest Green tray clean.  I even tried Barkeepers Friend, but no luck.  Since I have a collection of Forest Green, this will be a keeper and put to use in my kitchen.
I was delighted to find two of these pieces with china roses.  They are ALWAYS chipped when I find them and these two are perfect.  I guess I forgot to take a close-up of the other one - oopsie.
The sweet blue birdie has the original label, as well, and is Goebel.
These are the "keeper" plastic buttons from the huge VOA score.  You can click the picture bigger for a closer look.
A couple of updates...
Several readers reminded me that the crockery cloche in the last post is a chicken feeder or waterer.  Soon as I heard it I remembered and I thank you for the memory jog.
There have been several guesses about the "What's-it" in this post, including something to check the temperature inside wine barrels and something to check the temperature of maple syrup.  Both seem totally plausible but it is still a mystery. I did find out you can still buy new ones that are very similar.  They are sold by scientific instrument companies but none of them tell the purpose.  I found both plastic and wood and the wood seemed to be so it wouldn't spark.  Just another piece of the puzzle...

What a Fun Day!

I am mostly on vacation this week and began the week with a big TREAT - Danielle from Blessed Serendipity is visiting in Portland.  I met her and her dear husband and lovely daughter at Monticello Antiques.  We were joined by Laurie of Magpie Ethel fame.  We shopped, we chatted, we shopped, we chatted....  Her husband was endlessly patient and we had so much fun getting to meet in person.  She brought me a sweet package of goodies wrapped in the silk hankie above.
This is the bracelet in the center of the photo.  She made it herself!  How cute is that button with the two little doggies.
It is wrapped in a piece of vintage embroidery and the sides are finished with grandma-green rick-rack.  That girl knows me well!
We also visited my new favorite antique store, Nina and Joe's Division Street Antiques.  This is my loot from both stops.  Click the picture bigger so you can get a closer look at that jar of buttons.  I noticed it when I was there a few days ago but didn't pay much attention because the buttons are kind of ordinary.  Danielle picked it up and pointed out it has a bail on it and it is an early Crisco container.  Kudos to Danielle for finding it for me!
The new needle books she gifted me have already been added to my little collection.
Lastly, and very leastly, A little strange notion I had the other night.  I made these garden markers a few years ago and they have somehow all ended up stashed in a drawer.  I pulled them out and "planted" them in the fountain garden.  Saturday night I was on the patio after dark and noticed they reflect the lights and sparkle at night - happy bonus!
The week is off to a very, very good start.

Just For Me

I took Monday off and used the day to catch up on some errands.  My reward was a leisurely stroll through the Monticello Antique Marketplace. Going to an antique mall isn't like my typical junking where I have my eye out for hidden treasures and stock for my Etsy store.  In there, like minded junkers have already curated the best stuff and displayed it to inspiring perfection.  I brought home two little treasures - just for me.

I Better Pick Up The Pace!

I had the pleasure of a "play day" with a sweet friend last Saturday.  Well, that's nearly a week ago now and I still haven't posted my finds for the day.  I need to pick up the pace!
We hit the VofA first.  They were having 50% off everything and I found most of this pile there.  Nothing too exciting except that plate in the front.  The color doesn't show up well in the photo but it is Royal Ruby in the depression glass pattern called Bubble.  I collect Royal Ruby and Forest Green and I have a few pieces of Bubble but this is the first plate I have found in red.  Love it!
Those bookends are just for some art room reorganization I plan to do before Where Bloggers Create III.  It was so much fun last year and that is where I met some of you.  There is a link over on my sidebar if you haven't got the details for this year yet.
We also visited the Monticello antique mall.  They have a lovely little cafe where we had lunch and then took our time oohing and aahing.  That's where I got the pink sugar bowl I made into a sugarcushion in the previous post.  I guess I got the cart in front of the horse!
I also got this sweet little set of swallow S+P shakers to add to my birdie collection.
And yet another jewelry box {big sigh}.  Not a lot of loot but a big dose of fun!
They are predicting our first 80 degree day tomorrow - WooHoo!!!  I will be enjoying some outdoor time!
