Well, I can't really call these rescues on Betsy's level so I should call them "fix-ups" instead.
This is what became of that crusty old camera I scored this post. I added a vintage postcard, printed out the words and WA-LA, no longer crusty. Oh, and I scrubbed off the garage dirt.
This is the 8-track case from this post. I'm not sure the outside is finished but I have to let it "steep" a while to decide if I want to do more.
The inside is finished. A little vintage wallpaper goes a long ways in a fix-up! See, I ready do DO something with some of this stuff I drag home! 8+)

Watch the birdie...very clever!
I like the little black case.
I am trying real hard to quit dragging home treasures unless they are really special like the staffordshire dog I drug home this weekend from Kentucky LOL
You clean up very well. Love the post card with the camera. I have never figured out how to line something with paper and get the edges to be even. Great job!
Great rescue! Ooh, I love your idea with the postcard. The case is just so sweet and the wallpaper a fun contrast to the black. Good job!
Very clever with the camera flash! I have a cute-outside/ugly-inside suitcase that needs a cosmetic lift like yours. I can drop it by anytime.
Okay, so I see these 8 track cases quite often at Goodwill and maybe even at the few garage sales I still attend. And now I know what to do with one, should I ever see one again. Thank you. I haven't taken a photo of the really old and rusty small typewriter I found last Saturday but I will soon. I got it for $2, it doesn't work at all, and I only wanted it for a photo prop. It is still sitting on end in my garage. I might get some of the Annie Sloane Chalk Paint and give it a new look. First comes a vacation next week in Santa Fe, NM, then the typewriter. And before you ask, no, I won't be going to garage sales or junk stores because I won't have a car and Santa Fe doesn't have junk stores. Oh, well, can't have everything.
OMG the inside of that case is amazing!
Good for you! Great fixups Kathy! That vintage wallpaper is very cool.
