Holy Color Wheel, Batman!

I was flipping through the pages of McCalls 1972 Spring-Summer Needlework & Craft Magazine when this wardrobe stopped me in my tracks so I had to share!
I was a junior in High School in 1972 but I apparently missed this fashion-forward trend.

 I WANT that blue outfit.
How much would you love to find THIS dress at the next estate sale!
I'm pretty sure my mother would not have let me wear this one.
Love love love the striped vest!  Funny, I don't think I would have been brave enough to wear any of these in 1972 but I would love them now.
The magazine has the knit and crochet directions so let me know if you want to give any of these a try. Really.

I would have been in 8th grade and I don't remember these either, but I sure love them! Makes me wish I could knit or crochet.

My wardrobe was pretty heavy on granny square vests at one point in my high school career, but thankfully, that's as far as it went. Horizontal stripes always are a bad idea (especially in brightly colored yarn!)

I was a little (not much) young for these outfits back then but I had my own closetful of '70's 'classics,' a la grade school.

That granny square skirt looks like something Anthropolgie would be selling right now for several hundred dollars! Will you make me one please? :-)

Wow, these are definitely some outfits!! That dress is so neat!! I also like that skirt in the first photo, but I don't think my husband would let me walk out of the house in it! ;) xo Heather

Wow crochet shorts? I love looking through these booklets. Granny square projects seem to be so popular now. I wonder if someone might love that granny square skirt. Fun to look at.

These are wonderful! I'd hate to see what would happen if they got wet:-)
I was a junior in high school at the same time, but never wore anything quite this fashion forward. I should go through my yearbook to see if anyone is wearing those daring Hot Pants. Thanks for the memories.

OK, I was just out of college and don't remember those wild colors. However, I did wear the hot pants and the dresses that barely covered the rear end. And it was important to still be lady like!!
