The Organizing Plan and Attic Adventure

Yep, I'm still here and still running as fast as I can.  I can tell you this, I am going to ROCK retirement!  Husband says I still won't have time for all the things I want to do but I'm sure looking forward to finding out for myself.
These pictures have been languishing in my camera for a while but better late than never.
We had a dry day last weekend so I planted some hens and chicks in small plastic pots so I can put them inside vintage tins for the upcoming Spring Garden event at the antique mall.  The Granger tobacco tin and the MJB coffee tin will make fun garden planters.
The doll is a wind up music box.  As an angel it seems kind of Christmas-y but the color isn't Christmas so I might try it in the booth for Easter.
I couldn't resist this pretty lamp!  I think I have finally figured out how to fit lamps in my tiny mall space but still need to find shades for the ones I have stashed in the attic.
That pile on the left is vintage pillow cases and a sheet.  I adore the vintage linen remix I am seeing everywhere so I have been looking for vintage sheets and pillow cases.  I haven't decided yet if they will go in the Etsy shop or the booth.  I'm not sure how the antique mall will feel about what they might consider second hand sheets.  What do you think?  Are you seeing them in your local antique malls?
I am still trying to find a good system for storing inventory as I rotate things in and out of my little space.  I DID manage to dig out my work bench but the floor is still "pending".  I determined that using the attic for storage just wasn't working out.  It is just a matter of time before I fell while carrying things up and down the ladder.  I decided I will only store Christmas up there and everything else has to find another home down here.  Last weekend I hauled down everything that isn't Christmas so I have it all on the right level now.
It is good thing I made that decision because the spring popped off the pull-down ladder so I couldn't close it by myself anymore.  I still kept going up and down until the bracket bent so Husband couldn't close it anymore, either.  Husband put a longer bolt in the bracket but then it wouldn't clear the frame so he still couldn't close it.  He pounded the daylights out of the bracket until it cleared the frame but still no way to get the spring back on unless he went up in the attic and I closed the door.
I asked him what should I do if I pushed the door closed (standing on a stool) and the bracket jumped back over so I couldn't open it again.  He said just call the Fire Department.
Can you imagine how that call would have gone?
911:  What is your emergency?
Me:  My husband is stuck in the attic and I can't get him out.
911:  Well, does he WANT to come out?
Rest assured, all is well that ends well and we are both on the correct level of the house.  And he did not climb on top of the closed door since he would have come tumbling down on top of me and we both would have died and that whole 911 thing would have been someone else's problem!
Whew!  If you are still with me after this long post I commend you.  I really will try to post more often and say less in the future!

Lots of great finds here, but I am focused on the word retirement. I have been AWOL due to my hand and other issues so I must have missed something. How soon are you retiring?

So, I used to store all of my stock up in the attic too, but got tired of going up and down the stairs constantly. So, about 2 years ago I decided only Christmas stock would be stored up there. Well, I brought my Christmas stock home from the booth the 2nd week of January. And there it still sits on my office floor. It's been too cold to get up in the attic (or just pure laziness - I haven't decided)!

LOL, the whole 911 thing!! I have seen vintage sheets recently in an antique mall. They were in a booth that was all vintage linens and clothes.

I finally blogged after several months of silence. I'm working on getting my groove back!

I can only imagine the the scene if you had to call 911, too funny! You're going to be busy sorting through all these fun goodies!

The one big antique mall I go to here has plenty of vintage linens in the various booths. They're usually displayed on shelves or in mini hope-type chests, but one seller hangs hers (folded, on the diagonal) with clothespins from a trellis lattice at the back of her booth. I've also seen folded linens displayed on small ladders and in wicker laundry baskets. Since I often buy old textiles I really like seeing the dimensions listed on the tag so I don't have to unfold and measure them myself (awkward in a small space); you might do that for your customers, too.

You're so funny. I hope you get the attic door issue solved -- at least before next Christmas! Ah, the true problem of the vintage seller -- how to store all the goods so that you have them on hand season by season. Take heart: no one has enough room -- no one!

For your lamps, you might try getting some shade frames and tying them with muslin rags. People seem to love that look here.
