I promised another reveal of things I don't collect so here we go... When I spot an oil can at a sale I don't even stop to think it over, I just pick it up. I seriously never started out to collect oil cans but you know how it is, you get one and then you get another one and then you buy the third one and then, well, you know. If I had one of those lovely hand-hewn mantles (or any mantle!) with a stark white wall above I think these would really be striking. As it is, they sit on a high shelf in my art room and wait for me to give them some dignity. Now moving on to a few more things keeping them company on that high shelf.

I just bought an oil can that's very similar to the one on the far left in your pic. Found it at the local re-build it center -- still had oil in it. I don't collect them so i'll put it in my etsy shop. Without the oil. :-)
Did you hear there's snow in forecast? Yay. :-/
They really do look good grouped together, mantle or not! It's always fun seeing your non-collections!
Have the same obssession :)
Hah! My daughter loves tin oil cans. Something they just don't make. I think she likes them because they fit in her hand. I have a thing for funnels. Useful little suckers and hard to find when you need one. I have been picking them up as I find them.
I have a few oil cans myself...I went to an auction about 2 months ago and the old gentleman had collected oil cans. Hundreds!! Hundreds of them! Many for specific kinds of cars...huge to teeny ones. It was fun to watch them all sell. I only bought about 10 there as I wasn't so sure they would resell well and I didn't need any more for myself!
