A Little Piece Of Pretty

I have been feeling a little frustrated lately about making a living eating in to my time to make a life.  I like to garden and take a lot of pride in my yard.  It is big and it is a mature garden so it takes some work to keep it all under control.  We had beautiful weather on Sunday so I spent the day in the front yard, you know, the one people driving by can see.  I ran out of steam before I finished, but I made a good dent in it.
I walked in the back yard and stood on my patio and all I could see was all the work needing to be done.  Not very gratifying or relaxing!
So last night I came home and cleaned out one small bed that is front and center to my eyes when I am on the patio.  I think I dug out at least 8 of those pesky ferns that invade EVERYWHERE in my yard.  Those stinkers will inherit the earth!  Tonight I stopped at the green grocer on my way home and treated myself to 10 zonal geraniums.  I don't typically buy many annuals but I need a little piece of pretty to rest my eyes on.
Big sigh.  So pretty!

My garden is not pretty right now - too dry, no rain for months and recent days in the mid 90's. I hope I can work tomorrow, but it is supposed to be even hotter and even windier.

I will tell you that I thought I would get everything done when I retired because I could just live my life instead of earn a living. Well, even in retirement, there is never enough time. When you do retire, you will wonder how you ever found time to work.

Hope your garden is under control soon.

Hi Kathy, your geraniums are pretty in pink and they will fill in so nicely in front of the ferns. I know just what you mean with the gardens. So much to do this time of year and never enough time. We work each weekend on it just to keep up. Between work, home and more it can be a challenge.
Wishing you happy gardening and time to keep it under control.

Hugs

Ferns take over here too. Right now one has climbed an oak tree and shaded, too much, an orchid. I've got to get in there and use the scissors, hopeful of not pruning the orchid. Amazing what happens in a garden when we're not looking! Your geraniums will be a feast for the eyes.

I agree I hate that we have to work for a living just to survive here.
I would much rather be home and dig in the dirt and run the thrift stores and antique shops. also I love to go into the city and shop high end stores once in a while LOL
Your yard is looking real pretty.
Oh and I love that fern and have it started around a tree in my yard and moved some to the front yard where I cut out some old bushes

I always add some annuals as I need that pop of early color. I was thankful for those ferns that take over the earth and I moved some around and used them as filler in a newly planted window box. Cheap to use..and love the height. Love this time of year!

I would welcome some ferns but you know they are not native in my neck of the woods. I just love geraniums and always buy them every year. The pink is very pretty.

I love your pretty and bright geraniums, they're one plant that always thrives in my yard. I'd love to take some of those ferns off your hands, but they'd dry up in a few hours around here. Thanks for sharing.

I've been too frustrated to do flower gardening so far. I like what you have done. I also like anything that wants to take over as long as it isn't a weed. We just have too much room and I feel I can never get it done.

Geraniums are always among my first choice for summer! I wasn't born with the gardening gene but both my front and back need some TLC right now, too!

I wish I could afford a gardner! I've never really liked gardening but did the bare minimum to keep everything looking nice. Now I can't even do that much. My poor yard is need of some major love!

I have lots of those ferns too... they are just beginning to sprout up here. Can't wait to get some flowers for a bit of colour out there!

Your flower bed is lovely Kathy!
