The Pennsylvania Trail

A few of you know that our younger son and his wife recently moved from Portland Oregon to their new home in Pennsylvania.  It was a reverse Oregon Trail so they named the move The Pennsylvania Trail.  We tracked their 6-day journey across the country via daily text messages and I recorded it on an old road atlas.  A piece of artwork for the new (old) barn!
We were blessed to have him within hugging distance for 34 years and this is a big change for our family but we are cheering them on in their grand adventure!
After two more weeks of cleaning and unpacking, they settled yesterday in to their new home in northwestern Pennsylvania.  They bought a c.1820s farmhouse on 15 acres.  Their adventure has just begun!

My goodness, talk about adventure. What a time of year to travel across to the northeast with all the "unusual" weather!! And 15 acres, 1820's house??? What are they doing there?? I'm glad you cheer them on but know it must be hard to see them go.

Leave it to you to come up with such a cool way to record the trip! I know how exciting it is for them, but I also know how it can pull at a mama's heartstrings.
I hope they love their new (old) home!

Wow! Incredible to live in an old house - so much character! At least nowadays keeping in touch is so much easier than when the West Was Won. ;)

What a fun house to start a new adventure in. Hard to have them further away, but a good excuse for a vacation!

At least now there's Facetime, Skype and texting! Good for them to find such a charming house.
