Okey-Dokey Arty-chokey!

I wish I could say this is in my garden, but it's not.  Last night we attended the Cracked Pots show/sale at McMenamin's Edgefield.  I have blogged about the show before and I think it was even better this year.  We always stroll the grounds and visit the vegetable garden but this is the first time I saw these blooming artichokes.  I always think of vegetables bolting and going to seed as a bad thing but I'm considering planting some artichokes in the flower bed next year.  They are about 5 feet tall and the all the tiny purple stamens were alive with little bees inside.  I am loving our sunny weather and long Summer days!

Who knew an artichoke was that pretty? I had some big dried ones years ago, but they sure didn't look this good. I think you should go for it and plant yourself a crop of them. Yummy!

it's fun to see a more unusual vegetable grow. broccoli was one of mine that i hadn't grown before. carrots were a wonder when i was a very little kid.

Love the artichoke blooms. I had a bouquet of them for a while and then sold them in my space. I've never grown them. Wish I had gone to cracked pots...didn't know it was happening...

Oh I have never seen an artichoke even in a garden and the bloom makes it real fun to see

If I didn't have to work away from my treasure home I could garden every day, love being in the dirt and mulch
