We just returned from a few days of R&R in Newport Oregon. Yes, that is me inside that diving helmet. Let me just say it is HOT inside there and do not, DO NOT shout to your husband when you are inside it! The men who worked in those things were hardy souls, indeed. I am sure I wouldn't even be able to hold the thing up. It is mounted between two ladders so you can get in between them and climb up to put your head inside for a photo. This was taken at the Newport Aquarium.
Our younger son and his wife went with us. We had a delightful time playing tourist for a couple days and enjoying way too much yummy food and beverage. It was sunny and warm except when we were in wind coming off the water. This is the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. No trip is complete without a stop at an antique mall. Well, my husband thinks it is but my son was along and he doesn't mind going so the two of us slipped off for a quick look. The antique mall in Newport is poorly curated so it is turning into a flea (as in tube socks and VHS tapes) market but I was still able to find a few things. All those doilies in the background are NOT part of this score. They are from the one I haven't blogged yet but they are all scattered out on my table so I didn't take the time to clear it off. Looks kind of pretty that way.
We stayed on the old historic bayfront. It is a working bayfront on one side of the street and tourist-y shops on the other side. I always stop in the Jambo store and I fell in love with this patchwork skirt.
If you follow me on Pinterest you know I have been obsessed with vintage travel trailers lately so how could I pass up this?? Tomorrow it is back to getting ready for Where Bloggers Create but I'll be stylin' in my new trailer skirt!

This is a fun post! I love the picture with the diving helmet, and the skirt is so cool! I'm drooling over that pretty trim. Sounds like you had a great time.
Love that picture of you all decked out in the helmet. Sounds like you all had such a fun time. I agree that no trip is complete without a junkin' adventure.
What a fun post! I love your new patchwork skirt!!! That is so cute! :) Lovely finds! Happy week! xo Holly
I thought I took crazy photos but the one in the diving helmet takes the cake. My dad actually dove in one of those way back when. He was doing a dam building project (he is an engineer) and they had to go down in the water to assess stuff. He still talks about how heavy it was and how it was easy to get topsy turvy in it.
Aw, that looks like a fun trip! So many interesting little things to see and do! Are you saying that nobody can hear you when you shout inside that thing? Or that it's too loud in your own ears? or both? If nobody could hear me... I think I'd like to have one of those....
LOve this photos Miss Kathy!! So fun! Glad you had such a wonderful day!! And, love what treasures you came home with, especially all those pretty doilies! My goal is to attempt making one of the pansy ones!! I just love them!! Happy sweet day to you! xo Heather
