Right before the flu caught me I had pulled together a pile of this and that for some new pages in the altered quote book project. I am continuing my effort to take my inspiration from my stash of old Somerset magazines. These pages were inspired by the work of Judy Bidwell featured in the Summer 2010 issue of SEW Somerset.
"Ride the horse in the direction it is going." by Werner Erhard is one of my favorite quotes and it is especially meaningful to me on a couple of levels lately. One of those is the source for the red fringe on the left-hand page. I had a satin "mother" pillow in my Etsy shop for over a year and I could not GIVE that thing away. I rode the horse in the direction it was going and cut it up to use in artwork. The first cut is the hardest! The rose in the lower left was also cut from that pillow.
"Happy trails to you" by Roy Rogers. Not much I can add to those well wishes.

Well done - love it ESPECIALLY the red fringe LOL...
Hi Kathy,
How wonderful. You sure did a great job. Love the red fringe and the cowgirl pic is awesome.
Have a great week.

Welcome to the dark side of cutting up old fabrics ... now it has a new life and will continue to be enjoyed.
Cute cowgirl photo too!!
Love that quote and the way you used the bits and pieces from the pillow with no direction.
I am a softie for all things cowboy, so I love these pages! I carry an old tooled leather purse, for Pete's sake, and have a huge painting of three cowgirls over the couch in my living room. Fringe? Stars? Love 'em!!
Yee Haw! Just poppin in to say Hello...still fighting the never ending crud... :D

Love these pages!! The first cut is definitely the hardest! ;) Such pretty sparkly buttons on your last post! ;) xo Heather
Great page! I love how you repurposed your pillow!!!
I like how you have done these pages. Especially all the red. I have a question. Is "The first cut is the hardest" a quote? It should be....for me it would apply to paper as well as fabric.
Hello Kathy,
this is wonderful! I love the vibrant red and the rodeo feel. Great altered page!
Hugs,
Terri
