Autumn Isn't Always Orange And Gold

My Fall Crocus are in bloom.  Autumn doesn't conjure thoughts of lavender but no one told the Fall Crocus.  They are so fleeting but so beautiful while they last.  I have heard that Saffron comes from the stamen of Fall Crocus.  I am certainly not brave enough to try it but can you imagine trying to harvest it?  It is no wonder it is so incredibly expensive!

They're gorgeous. Keep on doing what you're doing...you could have a gold mine in your yard:-)

Anything that needs to be harvested with a tweezer is not going to get harvested here! Fortunately those flowers are pretty all on their own.

I didn't even know there was fall crocus, but what a nice surprise in the midst of typical fall colors. I didn't know saffron came from this flower either! See what I learn from you?!!
